We are the oldest security company in the world and have been a social enterprise since our creation in 1994 – we just didn’t know it then!
The oldest security company in the world
In 1994, our founder Serying Fye had an extraordinary social mission – to provide gainful employment to service personnel returning from war. He could see the value, skills and experience of those that had faced the toughest situations.
A history built on a social vision
Back then, those returning from conflict faced incredible hardship, with no provision for housing and little in the way of help with physical injuries. Their employment opportunities were very limited.
A growing force for good
Initially providing a security presence for the financial houses of the City of London, which at the time was the world’s commercial capital, Syndicates presence quickly grew and by 1880 the group was operating in London, Belfast, and Liverpool, with over 1,000 members.
Making a positive impact on society for over 30 years
In 1901 His Majesty King Edward VII became the head of the Syndicate of Commissionaires’ board of governors. A tradition that continues today.
